Vegan and Gluten Free Oatmeal Raisin Banana Bread

do we think another banana bread recipe is necessary? YES, yes we do! oh and this one is straight up scrumptiously vegan and gluten-free. there’s more though! Vegan and Gluten Free Oatmeal Raisin Banana Bread has no added sugar!

you don’t even need added sugar for this one because the overripe bananas are perfectly sweet and then i add raisins to the batter, hence the oatmeal raisin.

oh my gosh, what a slice of heaven this is too. the bread is soft, fluffy and sort of dense at the same time. honestly, it’s totally my ideal texture.

you don’t have to stick with the oatmeal raisin theme if that’s just not your vibe. chocolate chips would be perfectly appropriate and delicious.

in fact, that’s probably my move next time but i really do love oatmeal raisin. there’s something nostalgic about it for me!

probably because i used to order the BEST oatmeal raisin cookies in grade school during lunch time and this combo takes me back!

Vegan and Gluten Free Oatmeal Raisin Banana bread is made with a base of two flours and i highly recommend following my recipe exactly.

while i totally encourage creativity in the kitchen, baking is it’s own art and vegan baking can be particularly tricky.

in order to get the same outcome i did, you’re going to need almond flour and all purpose gluten free flour.

my favorite gluten free flour blend is actually from Trader Joe’s! there’s lots of yummy ones out there, but just make sure the ingredients are the same makeup as the flours in the Trader Joe’s brand if you’re using another one.

almond flour in this recipe is really important for the healthy fat content. i also added some nut butter for taste and binding purposes.

i recommend almond butter because the flavor won’t be overpowering like peanut butter but hey, i’m the world’s biggest pb fan so i have no problem with that.

any nut butter or seed butter will work well but it has to be runny. the two brands i find to be consistently runny and affordable are Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods 365 brand.

here’s everything you’re going to need!

  • gluten free all purpose flour

  • almond flour

  • baking powder

  • mashed bananas

  • coconut oil

  • almond butter

  • vanilla extract

  • oats

  • raisins

  • vegan cream cheese for topping if you want
