Ingredients

  • brownies
    1 1/2 cups cooked or canned chickpeas (rinsed and drained)
    2 medium ripe bananas (mashed)
    1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
    1/2 cup natural peanut butter
    1/4 cup maple syrup
    1 tsp vanilla extract
    1/2 tsp baking soda
    1/2 tsp baking powder
    pinch of sea salt

    frosting
    1 medium ripe banana (mashed)
    1/2 cup melted chocolate (to keep refined sugar free use coconut sugar or date sweetened)

Directions

  • prep your oven: preheat to 350°f (175°c) and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.

  • blend the batter: in a food processor, combine chickpeas, maple syrup, bananas, cocoa powder, peanut butter, vanilla, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. blend until smooth and creamy.

  • bake: pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading it out evenly. bake for about 22 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. let cool completely in the pan.

  • make the frosting: in the food processor (no need to clean it), blend the mashed banana with the melted chocolate until smooth.

  1. Hi! Already made this recipe once. The brownies were beyond scrumptious . Thus time around, I’m out if chickpeas. Do you think black beans or cannellini beans would work?
