15 Minute Air Fryer Gluten Free Falafel with Beet Hummus is SUCH a delicious vegan and gluten free recipe! falafel is absolutely delicious and it’s only more delicious with homemade beet hummus.
NOTE* the falafel itself is gluten free but the pita bread i used is not- to keep everything gluten free, just choose gf pita.
this color of this hummus is gorgeous but the taste is even better, you won’t believe how flavorful it is.
thanks to tahini, garlic, onion powder lemon juice, chickpeas, beets, vegan coconut yogurt and sea salt, you have the best of all flavors.

i did add 2 tbsp of thick and creamy plain + unsweetened coconut yogurt to the hummus, mainly for texture. the yogurt also creates this beautiful deep pink color!
as far as the brand of yogurt that i recommend, i would have to say culina or cocojune for this one.
the air fryer falafel are SUPER easy to make and they’re incredibly delicious. to bind the falafel, i used flax meal.
there is no flour added to this recipe, the flax meal does all of the binding and stabilizing.

15 Minute Air Fryer Gluten Free Falafel with Beet Hummus is made within 20-25 minutes if you count the hummus + prep time, and that means dinner could not be easier.

here’s everything you need to make 15 Minute Air Fryer Gluten Free Falafel with Beet Hummus
chickpeas rinsed and drained
flax meal
tahini
garlic cloves
onion powder
fresh lemons
fresh parsley
ground cumin
sea salt
steamed beets (roasted works too)
coconut yogurt plain and unsweetened


yay, there’s overlap between the ingredients and that always makes things so much easier!
if you don’t have an air fryer, you can bake the falafel but i am not too sure what the timing would look like.
i would start at 375 degrees and bake the falafel for 10 minutes. check on them and increase the time as needed!

Ingredients
- air fryer falafel
2 cups canned chickpeas rinsed and drained
1/4 cup creamy tahini (if it’s really runny add a little more flax meal)
1/3 cup flax meal
3 minced garlic cloves
1 tsp onion powder
juice of 1 small lemon
generous handful of fresh parsley
1/2 tsp ground cumin
1/2 tsp sea salt
- beet hummus
1 cup cooked beets
1 cup rinsed and drained canned chickpeas
2 tbsp tahini
2 tbsp coconut yogurt
juice 1/2 small lemon
2 garlic cloves
1/2 tsp onion powder
sea salt to taste
Directions
- pre heat the air fryer to 375 degrees.
- make the falafel in a food processor and blend until a thick mixture forms.
- form into large bites and coat in a little bit of avocado oil. air fry at 375 for 15 minutes and you can flip halfway through.
- to make the beet hummus, add all ingredients to a food processor and blend until a smooth consistency. layer on warm pita and then add the falafel.
- garnish with fresh parsley and enjoy!
