taste & texture

these freezer cubes taste like classic cookie dough with a creamy vanilla flavor and just the right amount of sweetness. thanks to the greek yogurt and nut butter combo, the texture is smooth, dense, and slightly fudgy straight from the freezer- not icy or crumbly. as they sit for a minute or two, they soften into a melt-in-your-mouth cookie dough consistency that’s seriously addictive.

why you’ll love this recipe

  • no bake and super quick to make
  • high-protein and satisfying
  • freezer-friendly and great for meal prep
  • made with simple, wholesome ingredients
  • easy to customize based on what you have

substitutions & variations

nut butter:

  • swap almond butter for peanut butter, cashew butter, or sunflower seed butter
  • just make sure it’s runny for the best texture

protein powder:

  • vanilla works best for classic cookie dough flavor
  • whey, plant-based, or collagen-based protein all work
  • texture may vary slightly depending on brand

sweetener:

  • maple syrup can be used instead of honey
  • for a less sweet bite, reduce to 2 teaspoons

mix-ins:

  • chopped dark chocolate
  • cacao nibs
  • pinch of flaky sea salt on top
  • mini chocolate chips for more even distribution

how to make these vegan

to make these completely vegan:

  • use a plant-based vanilla protein powder
  • swap honey for maple syrup
  • replace greek yogurt with a thick dairy-free yogurt (coconut or almond-based works best)

the texture will still be creamy and scoopable once frozen.

storage tips

  • store freezer cubes in an airtight container in the freezer
  • they keep well for up to 2 months
  • enjoy straight from frozen or let sit for 1–2 minutes to soften slightly

these are perfect for a quick dessert, post-workout treat, or late-night sweet craving when you want something satisfying but balanced.
