1 cup pitted Medjool dates, soaked in warm water for 10 minutes and drained 1/3 cup cocoa powder 1/2 cup vanilla or chocolate protein powder 1/4 cup almond butter 1/4 cup dairy free milk (such as almond milk or coconut milk), can add more as needed, 1 tbsp at a time Pinch of salt 1/3 cup unsweetened chocolate chips
Instructions
prepare the dates: unless dates are soft and mushy, soak them in warm water for 10 minutes.
blend ingredients: in a food processor, combine the soaked dates, cocoa powder, protein powder, almond butter, and a pinch of salt (if using). pulse or blend until the mixture starts to come together.
add dairy-free milk: gradually add dairy-free milk, either 1/4 or 1/3 cup depending on the moisture content of the dates and the desired consistency.
adjust consistency: if the mixture is too wet, add a bit more cocoa powder or protein powder to balance it out.
