prepare your taste buds for something like no other! our vegan and gluten-free cheesy maple apple and bacon flatbread is OUT OF THIS WORLD with irresistible texture and taste that’s sure to leave you craving for more.
imagine sinking your teeth into a cheesy, sweet, salty, warm, soft, and fluffy piece of bread.
well, guess what, you can! the gluten-free measure-for-measure flour provides the perfect foundation, ensuring a light and airy interior. it’s the kind of texture that makes every bite incredible, with just the right amount of chewiness.
as for the toppings, the vegan mozzarella cheese blankets the flatbread, melting into a gooey, creamy layer that’s oh-so-satisfying.
for this recipe, i HIGHLY recommend miyoko’s liquid vegan mozzarella if you can get ahold of some.
when it’s baked to perfection, it forms a bubbly, golden crust that adds an extra layer of texture to this masterpiece.
i did also add some shredded vegan mozzarella along with the liquid one because ya know, i wanted this to be super cheesy :). whatever kind you use and how much of it is totally up to you.
i top it all off with the vegan bacon and maple sautéed apples.
the bacon offers a smoky, salty and slightly crispy element, creating a perfect contrast to the cheesy goodness.
and those maple-sautéed apples? they bring a sweet, caramelized, and slightly sticky texture that elevates this flatbread to a whole new level of deliciousness.
the flatbread in our vegan and gluten-free cheesy maple apple and bacon flatbread recipe is a true gem.
it’s not only incredibly delicious but also remarkably easy to make, making it the perfect canvas for culinary creativity.
what sets this flatbread apart is its gluten-free, yay. traditionally, flatbreads often rely on wheat-based flours, but this recipe uses gluten-free measure-for-measure flour, which ensures that those with gluten sensitivities or allergies can still enjoy this delectable treat.
now, let’s talk about how easy it is to create this canvas of flavor.
with just a handful of simple ingredients like warm water, yeast, avocado oil, sugar (or Lakanto substitute), and sea salt, you can whip up the flatbread dough in no time.
the gluten-free measure-for-measure flour makes the dough pliable and easy to work with ( i recommend king arthur flour by the way)!
once the dough is rolled out and pre-baked, it’s ready to be transformed into a culinary masterpiece. the vegan mozzarella cheese serves as a creamy and indulgent base, and from there, you can let your creativity run wild.
now, let’s talk about the taste, the most important part of any recipe- the taste!
the first thing that hits your palate is the savory slightly salty goodness of the vegan mozzarella cheese and bacon.
then, you start to get hints of the apple! every bite is creamy, indulgent, and so satisfying. the cheesy flavor is balanced perfectly with the slightly salty and savory undertones of the flatbread itself.
but the real star of the show? those maple sautéed apples. they add a delicious sweetness that complements the savory elements perfectly.
the maple syrup caramelizes the apples, creating a heavenly mix of sweet and slightly tangy notes. and that hint of cinnamon? it ties everything together, making each bite a harmonious blend of flavors.
